Enable searching for users by username in backoffice

The Litium 8 backoffice should support searching for users by username, regardless of whether it differs from the email address

I agree with Hjalmar, that is not a uncommon b2b case.

If you use email as user name you still need to also fill in the email field to be able to search for that. Searching for user name directly would be useful. I think the quick search should search all fields including user name.

    Thanks for the follow-up!

This wasn't my original idea, but I support it because we've encountered this scenario in real projects.

In our case, customers are imported from an ERP system where no email address is available. The username is therefore something like the customer number (or another ERP identifier).

When customer service needs to find a specific user in the back office, searching by email is not possible, while they often know the customer number. Being able to search by username would therefore make administration much easier.

I still agree that using an email address as the username is the preferred approach when possible.

    Thanks for the feedback!

We usually recommend using an email address as username, interpreting this as a standard for commerce solutions.

What are the reasons for not using the email address? Is it because of legacy or are there reasons connected to personal integrity or similar?
