If a link field is set to be Multi language the link text should be multi language, but the link pointer should not. In 99% of the cases the link should point to the same page/category/product etc. regardless of language.

Now the editor will have to add the same link for each language used instead of doing it once.

For the 1% cases where the link should be different for each language you will just set up different blocks ie. to solve the problem.
