In the back office, when trying to edit a field, we would like to skip the step where it is needed to "unlock" every field with the pencil icon (see attached screenshot). This unlock feature yield in duplicated amount of clicks when working in the back office.
Two suggestions:
There could be a true/false option on solution/site-level where the customer could choose whether the unlock feature should be on or off.
On field-level either in code or backoffice, or both, be able to choose if the field should be locked per default when editing.
Hi,
In the recently released Litium 8.9 the pen icon was removed entirely from all backoffice views.

I think an important question is: why do these locks exist at all? I have never seen them in any other CMS.
In my opinion, they only exist because it's too easy to edit the wrong field/language by mistake, and these is no version control to help you once that mistake has been made.
The solution should be to: 1) Open up the fields in edit mode without any lock-clicking, 2) Make it easier to keep editing and viewing the site in once specific language (the current setup requires A LOT of drop-down and lock-clicking, and 3) Add version control with rollback/restore feature

are you suggesting this is a feature per field since enable editing for all fileds at once in done via pencil in the fieldview header for both PIM and CMS fields
